Plan a carcass with optional overlay doors

Carcass and shelf geometry

Sides run full height; top, bottom and shelves fit between them. Equal clear openings use the same cabinet algorithm. There is no back panel. Carcass depth describes the carcass; closed doors occupy additional thickness forward.

Reveal and center gap

Outer reveal R is clearance around the outside front edges. One door is (W − 2R) × (H − 2R). Two doors are each (W − 2R − center gap) ÷ 2 wide and H − 2R high. Center gap is ignored for one door; dimensions are not rounded to whole millimeters.

A default door check

At 800 × 720 × 320 mm, T18, one shelf, two doors, 2 mm reveal and 2 mm gap, each door is 397 × 716 mm and the model contains seven physical panels. Door thickness may differ from carcass thickness; optimize unlike material groups separately. This is panel sizing, without hinges, drilling or handle holes.

Practical guides

Enter a measurement such as 18, 18.5, 3/4", or 18 1/2". Inch fractions use the selected inch unit or an explicit inch suffix.
