THE FORMULA
Feed rate = chip load × RPM × flute count
Multiply millimeters per tooth by revolutions per minute and flute count to get feed rate in millimeters per minute.
These tools calculate the values you supply. They do not recommend tool, material or machine parameters.
Convert a specified chip load into linear feed
Feed-rate example
With a supplied 0.15 mm/tooth, 18000 RPM and two flutes, feed = 0.15 × 18000 × 2 = 5400 mm/min. This is an educational calculation, not a cutting recommendation.
Use matching physical units
A chip load in inches produces feed in in/min; millimeters produce mm/min. Check tool and machine guidance separately. The calculator does not model acceleration, engagement or permissible tool load.
