Cutting time in seconds120s

THE FORMULA

Time (minutes) = cutting distance (mm) ÷ feed rate (mm/min)

Convert the entered distance to millimeters first. Divide by feed rate for minutes, then multiply by 60 for seconds. This is constant-feed cutting time; rapid moves, acceleration, tool changes and setup are excluded.

These tools calculate the values you supply. They do not recommend tool, material or machine parameters.

Estimate constant-feed cutting time

Distance divided by feed

A 12000 mm path at 6000 mm/min takes 2 minutes of continuous constant-feed movement. A 100-inch path at 50 in/min also takes 2 minutes. Match distance and feed units.

What the time excludes

This is not a CAM cycle-time simulation. Setup, rapid moves, acceleration, corners, spindle transitions and tool changes are excluded. Use a real total cutting distance; a rectangle's area is not its toolpath length.

Practical guides

Enter a measurement such as 18, 18.5, 3/4", or 18 1/2". Inch fractions use the selected inch unit or an explicit inch suffix.
