Size an open-top five-panel drawer box

One butt-joint construction

Left and right sides run full depth. Front and back fit between them; the bottom fits within all four walls. With outside W/H/D and thickness T, sides are D × H, front/back are (W − 2T) × H, and bottom is (W − 2T) × (D − 2T).

Clear interior and a worked example

Clear interior is W − 2T, H − T and D − 2T. Inside mode converts those values back to outside dimensions before using the same generator. At 600 × 180 × 500 mm, T18, sides are 500 × 180, front/back 564 × 180 and bottom 564 × 464 mm.

Before making a drawer

Use the 3D/exploded preview to inspect panel placement. This tool sizes the drawer box, not an outer cabinet or drawer-slide clearances. It adds no decorative front, runners, grooves or hardware. Save a revision, export panel outlines or transfer all five panels to the sheet optimizer.

Practical guides

Enter a measurement such as 18, 18.5, 3/4", or 18 1/2". Inch fractions use the selected inch unit or an explicit inch suffix.
